**Creating Discounts in Regpack**

Use the **Discount** product type to apply **flat-rate or percentage-based discounts** to specific products, product groups, or the entire cart. Discounts can be stacked and customized using Regpack's trigger system.

### How to Create a Discount Product

1. Navigate to **Settings → Products → Create New Product**
2. Select **"Discount"** as the product type

After creation, configure the following required fields:

- **Discount Amount**:
  - Enter a flat dollar amount or a percentage (e.g., 35% = enter “35” and select the % option)
- **Discount Allocation**:
  - Choose whether the discount applies to:
    - The entire cart
    - A specific product
    - A category of products
    - A selected group of products

### Discount Application Notes

- **Packages**: Discounts **cannot** be applied directly to packages. Use the built-in package pricing options instead.
- **Visibility**: Discounts are **admin-only by default**. They will not appear on the front end unless:
  - Manually added by an admin
  - Triggered automatically through user conditions

To set up a **coupon or promo code**, create the discount as described above, then use the **triggering system** to assign a discount code that will trigger a discount for the user when the code is entered.

### Available Additional Settings

**General Settings**

- **Can Only Be Ordered Once**: Restricts users to using the discount once
- **Assign Admins / Instructors**: For internal tracking and notifications
- **Description**: Add explanations, images, or video via HTML editor
- **Internal ID**: Use for data organization and reporting
- **Location**: Tag discounts by location for filters or display
- **Misc 1 & 2**: Custom labeling options used in reporting or forms

**Product Type Assignment**

- Define eligibility: **Head-units, Sub-units, or Both**

**Availability & Expiration**

- Schedule when discounts appear or expire using visibility dates
- Combine with triggers for timed promotions (e.g., early bird or late registration discounts)

**Quota Settings**

- Set a **maximum number of users** who can redeem the discount
